Update: June 28, 2016

Dear Readers,

I apologize, because I have dropped the ball.  I have not updated the page in a few months.  My life has been pretty chaotic lately.  I resigned from my job and as a result had to adapt, having to put aside for a while many of the things I am passionate about.  I will do my best to give you monthly schedules starting in July.

That said, I have good news for Portland trads.  Holy Rosary Church now has a Dominican Rite High Mass every Sunday at 11am!!!  Deo gratias!!!    This gives the people of Portland three different options for TLMs on Sundays:

- 8am at St. Stephen's
- 9:30am at St. Birgitta's, and
- 11am at Holy Rosary.

Additionally, Holy Rosary will continue offering occasional weekday Masses for special feasts.  The next one is on Wednesday, June 29, for the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul at 7pm.

Please keep praying for the Salem TLM possibility.  I haven't heard anything lately, but St. Joseph's has been working on adding TLM every Sunday at a reasonable time (to replace its once-a-month 6:45am hybrid Mass).

Blessings,
Francisco Romero

New Sunday TLM @ St. Stephens, Starting Easter Sunday!

Great News!  Fr. John Boyle, JCL, pastor of St. Stephens' Church in Portland, has announced that starting on Easter Sunday, there will be a TLM every Sunday at 8am at his parish!  The Mass on any given Sunday may be a high or low Mass, and will be announced in the parish's weekly bulletins, which you can access here.  Here's the original announcement on the March 6 bulletin of St. Stephen's Church:

Here's how to get to St. Stephen's Church:

Special Meeting with Msgr. Huneger Re: A Possible Weekly TLMs @ St. Joseph's, Salem

Dear Readers,

We would like to extend a special invitation to you all.

This Sunday, March 6, is the 1st Sunday of the Month, and St. Joseph's Church in Salem will have its monthly TLM at 6:45am. After Mass Msgr. Huneger would like to meet with people interested in the TLM, especially those who come from "abroad", who are not parishoners of St. Joseph's. He would like to get an idea of how much interest there is in a weekly TLM, and if he sees a critical mass he would consider (1) possibly having the Mass said every Sunday, rather than only on 1st Sundays, and (2) possibly moving the Mass from its current 6:45am schedule to a more convenient hour, 10am for example. Changing the schedule would be difficult, because it would involve having to justify displacing one of St. Joseph's other Masses (the current Mass schedule on Sunday is 7am, 8:30am, 10am, and 12pm English, then 1:30pm Spanish, 3:45pm Vietnamese, 5:30pm Spanish, and 7:30pm English). But Monsignor would be open to it if we were to show him that there are enough people committed to coming each week for a Traditional Latin Mass. So having a plethora of people attend this meeting would likely make a more solid impression in his mind.

So if you would like to promote the Traditional Latin Mass in our area, please join us this Sunday, March 6, at St. Joseph's after the 6:45am TLM. Bring some of your TLM friends.

And just to put in your mind images of what the regular liturgical life of St. Joseph's could include more regularly if this meeting is successful, I'll leave you with photos of last year's Corpus Christi Mass and procession.

Sincerely,

Dr. Francisco Romero
